Project Summary

The project comprises of a single PV array on the roof of a commercial unit in Worthing. A custom-design UniRac-UniStrut twin rail system was used to mount the modules above the corrugations.

Technical Information

The system comprises of eleven high efficiency polycrystalline Kyocera PV modules, with a Fronius IG15 inverter converting the output to grid-standard AC electricity. Cabling within the building was armoured to protect against damage during the use of heavy equipment by the end-client.
A bespoke combination of UniRac and UniStrut mounting systems with a custom fixing was used to mount the modules to the Kingspan section roof without compromising its integrity.

Social, Economic and Environmental Benefits

The system was design to offset the loss of roof-lighting caused by expansion of the unit, without increasing the carbon footprint of the building. Furthermore, when the building is not in use, the modules generate additional revenue for the owners by continuing to generate saleable energy for the national grid.
