Project Summary

A single ground-mounted wind turbine mounted in the land of a domestic client in Hertfordshire. The turbine operates in parallel with the mains distribution network, while the mast was the first Proven model to be installed with a visual impact-reducing black coating.

Technical Information

The wind turbine has a rated output of 6 kW and is connected to a controller/rectifier and a single SMA Windy Boy WB6000 inverter. The rotor has a 5.6m diameter and three blades. The mast was painted black at the request of the customer, to suit local requirements.

Social, Economic and Environmental Benefits

The turbines feed directly into the building’s electric distribution network. Power generated will be consumed by appliances in the cottage, with excess electricity exported to the grid. This will generate extra income for the client, and offset the CO2 emitted in generating the grid-supplied electricity.
