Project Summary

A large single PV array was installed on the roof of a new business centre in Newhaven, East Sussex, designed to offset 10% of the building’s carbon emissions. A bespoke fixing system to the standing seam roof was designed using a twin-rail system.

The complete array mounted on the roof

Technical Information

The system comprises of 84 high efficiency polycrystalline Sharp PV modules, with a Fronius IG40 inverter on each of three phases converting the output to grid-standard AC electricity. A twin-rail mounting system was designed to mount the modules to the standing seam roof without compromising its integrity. A public display board with live LED readouts of system performance and a customised graphic was fitted in the reception area.

Social, Economic and Environmental Benefits

The system saves approximately 6.2 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year, enabling the building to meet its target of saving 10% of the total emissions. When the building is not in use, the modules continue to generate power, creating additional revenue for the owners by through resale of energy to the national grid.
