Wind Turbines and Mast Systems

For small wind turbines, rated up to 15kW, SEI offers a range of off-the-shelf solutions. For larger individual projects up to 200kW, SEI will design a system using the most appropriate technologies from the UK and European markets.

SEI is not tied to any particular manufacturer or product, although it is an approved installer for a number of technologies.

Small wind turbines

For smaller projects SEI offers Proven Engineering 2.5kW, 6kW and 15kW turbines. These are gearless, downstream horizontal-axis turbines, capable of continuing to generate at extreme wind speeds as the blades are designed to hinge and reduce the effects of the oncoming wind. This design feature, in addition to a robust construction, makes Proven wind turbines extremely durable.

These turbines are designed to be used with an accompanying range of masts, and are suitable for both grid-tied and off-grid applications. Tilt-up mast heights range from 9m (6kW only) to 25m. Mounting systems are available for customised masts, such as those designed for use on buildings.

Larger projects

Larger wind turbine projects include individual turbines from 20-200kW, multi-site projects (for example distributed generators at substations), wind-crofting and building-mounted turbines. These projects require a more in-depth investigation into site suitability, products, materials and designs in order to ensure safe, efficient, sustainable and cost-effective installation and operation.

As part of our turn-key service, SEI is able to perform this design work and will present a range of options for the client to consider for taking forward. Once the final design is approved, SEI will manage the installation from supply to commissioning. Where the project is substantial, SEI can be commissioned to design and specify the systems with no obligation for the installation, although it is often more cost-effective to keep the installation in-house. SEI can source wind turbines from across the UK and Europe to find the most suitable turbine for your site, and we have no ties to any particular product.

For projects larger than 200kW, it may be more appropriate for you to commission our parent company, IT Power Ltd to design and specify the system.
